2012 CATCH Grant

Paul J. Hletko, MD, FAAP and Sarah Mennito, MD, FAAP have been awarded a 2012 CATCH (Community Access to Child Health) grant from the American Academy of Pediatrics.  Dr. Mennito is the director of the combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Residency Program @ MUSC.  The purpose of the grant is fund a project that will plan for the smooth transition of adolescents with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) to adult providers that are comfortable with the multi-system health problems experienced by SSD patients.  The planning committee will also examine the needs of SCD patients in the areas of education, vocational planning, insurance, income, living independence, transportation, and mental health.
